Telenor a denmark based telecom company was launched in Pakistan at the start of this century, by that time there were two major competitors of telenor, mobilink jazz and ufone, telenor when launched, targeted young people and mainly teenagers, because they comprises the major portion of population of Pakistan and at that time trend of having mobile phone by every person was established in Pakistan, telenor capitalizes this, telenor is the pioneer of easy load of  as low as Rs 10/- this option attracted most of the people because it was so convenient and cheap to load balance in telenor as compared to jazz and ufone, (now every company offers this service).
Mobile phone companies are advertising heavily, to make more and more customers to earn profits, from advertising prospective, telenor has always used effective technique, telenor has never done comparative advertising rather it has always established its brand value by its sms and call packages. 
the advertising surveys shows that Ufone is making the tremendous ads and every one likes ufone ads, and it is said that people wait for new ads of ufone, mostly because of humour factor in it. But still people are not shifiting to ufone or any other company. 
Telenor is still the fastest growing network in Paksitan.
The credit for this goes to the marketing department of telenor, where other companies like zong, ufone , jazz and warid are offereing dozens of packages, in every package call and sms rates are different; Telenor is offering only two packages Djuice and Talk Shawk, Djuice is for cheap sms and talkshawk offers cheap call rates, it can be said that Djuice is for youngsters and Talk Shawk is for grown up peope. Telenor is providing the services accoridng to the needs of customers and the simplicity of its packages is the reason for telenor success, in other mobile phone companies the customer don't know which package to select they are offereing dozens of packages with different variations in rates which are difficult to understand... 
the simplicity and honesty telenor is offering is its competitve advantage which no other mobile phaone company has yet realized, whether there is Ali Zafar or no Ali Zafar; telenor will soon have more customers than mobilink because of competitve advantages discussed above
