Root Cause - Growing Cases of Harassment in Pakistan

We have seen a growing number embarrassment cases in Pakistan in recent years. And it has caused stir of debates about their cause and steps to reduce it, but all these debates go in vain and people forget about it after few days until a new case arises.

One of the reason is lack of education and grooming of a generation. The young generation we have now (from age 15 to 20 years) are brought up under the shadow of social media and 24 hours screen time of television, and this screen time consist of immoral content from songs, movies to vulgar talk shows and immoral advertisement.

Parents relied on screens rather then their own time and energy in upbringing their child and in result no values and morals were passed on resulting in a reckless generation that believes in doing actions without thinking about the consequences.

In a recent incident where hundreds of young men harassed a girl, and in the video clips that went viral shows that boys were shouting in enjoyment and acting as if they are doing a fun thing. It shows that none of them were feeling any shame or regret because in their mind it was a fun thing to do and none of them had any consequences in his mind.

It was just one incident that was reported, there are many other incidents like these that goes unreported. And mostly boys of age between 15 and 25 years are involved in such incidents.

To prevent such incidents a measure has to be taken for moral grooming of the current generation. And it has be done now other wise it will be too late and there will be downfall onward to next generations.

Same goes for girls as well. And there is a responsibility on girls as well to take all possible security measures before going to a crowded place. It is not victim blaming, its telling everyone to be responsible and don't give easy opportunity to criminals as a person whose mind is filled with desire of crime will do crime no matter what, society has to make it difficult for that person to commit crime, that is why their is police, army and other security forces.

Last I will give an example for easy understanding.

In Pakistan Toyota Corolla is a car that is stolen most and almost everyone knows it. So when a person buys a brand new car, will he/she take it out to a very crowded place and leave it there unlocked for hours? Absolutely not, because he/shes knows that if I leave it unlocked it will be stolen easily, we take extra security precautions before taking it out. And let says if a person leave his car unlocked and it get stolen then whose fault it will be?

Creating a safe environment is indeed a duty of government but its responsibility of the society to make crime difficult by not providing easy opportunity to criminals.
